Neil Palache

Who doesn't know Neil Palache.  Neil is such a true spokesperson for NAWBO.  let's learn more about him!
Neil started his financial services career in 1983 at the ripe age of 21. He was recruited by MassMutual Life, received his insurance license in January 1984 and thus began his career as a life insurance agent. Later that decade Neil received his Series 6 securities license which allowed him to provide mutual funds and variable annuities. During the 80's and 90's Neil received many accolades including Rookie of the Year, Agent of the Year, Leaders Club qualifier and lifetime membership to The Million Dollar Round Table, the life insurance industry's premiere organization of top producers. In 1999 Neil became an Independent Registered Investment Adviser in the State of California.

Also in 1999, Neil developed a process that today is called The Wealth Creator System™. It is a coaching and education process designed to teach people how to properly manage their money and ultimately become financially independent. In 2005 Neil formed The Wealth Creator Company, Inc. Its mission is to 'coach and educate single, divorced and widowed women as they strive to achieve their own financial well-being while moving toward and ultimately reaching financial independence'.

Neil has become particularly passionate about educating divorced and widowed women. As such, his company is being re-named and as of mid-December this year will be called The Wealth Creator Company for Women, Inc. This company will not only be completely dedicated to the above mission but will also be striving to teach other people how to coach and educate divorced and widowed women. The Wealth Creator System™ will begin its journey across the globe as it designates other business owners to become a Certified Women's Money Coach™. Our goal is to positively impact thousands of women across the world as they strive to become financially independent.

Greetings!

First of all, Happy Holidays!

It's amazing that it's already December.  Where has the year gone?  I must say that NAWBO VC has had a very eventful year.  We moved to a new venue, we have had fantastic speakers at each dinner meeting, we're building an alliance with other groups, i.e., SCORE and Ventura County Professional Women's Network, and we've had new members joining us each month.  What more could we ask for?

As an example of great speakers, I believe all will agree that Kathleen was even better than we anticipated.  She was great and entertaining....

"Networking is really Net-Connecting," says Kathleen Ronald.

At the November 19th meeting, NAWBO-VC members and guests learned the secret strategies of Kathleen Ronald, "Queen of Business Networking", an unparalleled networker, an internationally renowned speaker-trainer, and the founder of Speaktacular.  She taught the audience that Networking was really NetConnecting because networking sounded too much like work and connecting with each other is really what you're doing when you're at a gathering.

Members also learned from Kathleen that Bristol Business School data shows that "70% of business for entrepreneurs comes form direct personal contact-referrals and networking."  She also spoke about the limiting beliefs that many of us have that prevent us from connecting successfully and also shared the positive connecting beliefs that we should have.  In addition, Kathleen taught valuable Pre-Connecting Strategies as well as At-the-Event Connecting Strategies.

"Kathleen was entertaining, funny, and so knowledegable about her topic, too. " said one member, "I laughed and learned at the same time. Everyone loved her!"
Another member said, "We want to have her back again real soon. She was one of our best programs." (Elaine Holifield, Programs Director)

Now we're going to end the year with some fun and great ideas at our last 2009 dinner meeting.  Please see below for the details.  And, we have a few surprises for all who attend.  I look forward to seeing you there!

December Dinner Meeting -

December 10th - Can Feng Shui affect your finances and love life?

Don't forget to bring business clothing for our Women Helping Women Clothes Drive.

On December 10th,meet Feng Shui expert, P.K. Odle, and learn how Feng Shui is already affecting your life in and around your home and office in negative and positive ways.  Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese system of designing buildings and space arrangement according to special rules about the flow of energy, aimed at achieving harmony with the environment. Do you need to improve your health and relationships? Enhance your prosperity and creativity? P.K. will show you how to achieve your goals with the implementation of necessary elemental remedies, such as water features, live plants, fire colors, earthen or metal objects.

Women Helping Women - Business Clothes Drive:  Please bring new or used business suits/clothing for women. We will donate your gift to underprivileged women who are seeking jobs.

NAWBO VC -
Our Members and Our Chapter -
A force to be reckoned with!

NAWBO Ventura County is currently experiencing a great deal of exposure. This is partly, if not entirely, due to the effort that is being made by its membership. Many of you have been bringing guests to the dinner meetings, which, by its very nature creates traction. It is certainly much appreciated. Keep up the great work. When the entire membership works together great results can and will happen.

As you know, my committee has been calling everyone usually the week prior to the dinner meeting. We do this not only to make sure that you are attending but also to save you money. The early-bird dinner ticket pricing ends on the Friday prior to the meeting. We want to make sure that you take advantage of that savings. Also, please remember that if you bring a guest and make and pay for the reservation at the same time as you make yours, your guest also receives the member price of only $35. That's right. The early-bird is only $35. The dinner fees were reduced so take advantage.

By the way, thank you to my terrific committee members Sheryl Tuchman and Anthony Mitchell who have been doing a great job. Also, please welcome my newest committee member Ari Hovnanyan of RaboBank, N.A. When you see them at the dinner, please remember to thank them for doing an outstanding job. Thank you.

What's happening in Sacramento -
Things to be aware of at the State and National levels.

State sales tax for online purchases-As you have probably heard, the state is still having a financial problem, and everyone is looking for "more revenue sources." One thing being looked at is sales tax for online purchases. Generally, if a company does not have a physical presence in California the vendor doesn't have to collect state sales tax. But since the mid 1930s there has been a "user" tax that we are supposed to voluntarily pay. There is talk that the State may start looking for ways to collect this, so stay tuned. The estimated about equals $47-er individuals and $166 for businesses.

Health Care Reform-Nothing is definite as yet, other than no one can agree on THE way to do this. The recent bill passed by the Senate 60-39 didn't actually enact anything, it just allows the bill to be debated and discussed. What eventually needs to happen is 'reconciliation' where this bill and the previously passed House bill need to be combined into one bill. There will need to be A LOT of compromised in order to get that done!

AB 31-This bill passed a few weeks ago, and for women owned certified businesses, as well as Minority and veteran owned businesses, this is a definite plus. The Small Business Procurement and Contract Act previously permitted a state agency to award a contract for goods, services, or information technology with a value of between $5,000 and $100,000 to a certified small business, including a micro-business and a disabled veteran business enterprise, without complying with specified competitive bidding requirements. The passage of this bill would increases the maximum amount of the contract from $100,000 to $250,000. So if you have a business that could potentially benefit, now's the time to go for it.

We won't have another newsletter until  next year; 2010.  doesn't that seem odd.  As we all prepare for the new year we need to be sure and get organized, get our 2010 business plan in place and , most of all, have fun!

I hope to see you next Thursday.  I also want to wish all of you a very Safe and Happy Holiday Season and an extremely successful and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Sandy Allan, President
